First Visit
The first dental examination for your child should occur
between the ages of 6 months and 12 months as recommended
by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. Many
problems that might develop can be prevented.

Children require special equipment and explanations. We strive
at all times to make dental visits a positive experience. Our staff
is very well trained to work with the patients we serve.

We use language that children can understand and therefore they can better accept dental treatment.
We do not use any form of oral sedation on our patients in the office.
W
e feel our method of show, tell and do works very well. The child learns that a dental visit can become a regular and pleasant part of their health routine.

Children's Behavior
Every child has a unique personality and each responds differently to new situations. Crying is one way that some children express themselves. This behavior is normal and healthy when children are nervous, tired, or having some discomfort. We try to distract the child by giving praise, telling a story, or explaining what we are doing. All dental treatment is followed by words of encouragement and a special prize.

Prizes
All children are inherently good and deserving of a reward at the end of a procedure. These small prizes are a nice ending to the appointment. We use lots of praise and positive reinforcement to give your child the best possible experience. We love children. Their acceptance of dental care is important to their oral health and total body health.

Treatment Area

Parents may accompany their child to the treatment area, but quite often, children do better without their parents being present. We have an open area so the children can see each other and this helps to reassure them. Children are never left alone. Trained dental personnel will always be close your child while they are in the office for treatment.
